This book had strong, gripping writing and well-defined characters. The introduction to the story was excellent and the book only got better from there. A must read for mystery fans!

We’ve been told that this book, "No One Else To Kill" is the best book of the Jim West Series by several readers from time to time, and after picking up one myself and sweeping through it, We are convinced without a doubt that indeed it is the best of Jim West Thrillers (though I’ve not read others yet). This book indeed is a Mystery/Thriller that's not at all predictable right from the very the casual beginning/introduction to a very thrilling end.I tried hard to predict who's the killer or how the story will unfold in a certain way through out the novel, but every time I doubted and fixed my eyes on few of the characters to be the mystery killer, Every time a new suspense and thrill would arise and hit me straight and kept me wondering. It was a thrilling ride right from the intriguing introduction where it all started as just a mere vacation where Jim West was expecting the arrival of his friend (who needed help for some of his personal issues) who unexpectedly turned off.Readers are introduced to the novel with insights to Jim West as a good guy, who maintains his reputation as a good guy through out the book.Soon as Jim decides to leave the lodge, The Murders and Mayhem takes place in twenty four hours of stay at the lodge that engaged and sucked me in wanting to reveal the suspense and the mystery killer. The novel goes a shear page turner right from here.Killings/Murders, Investigations, Interviews, Sheriffs, Cops, Hunters, Bar tenders, Girls, Killer and our good guy "Jim West", all arranged, twisted, and teased in a manner that leaves the reader wanting to turn the pages without blinking for a second. It was great to see that the detectives recognized the skill of Jim West to help them solve the case and get the killer right behind the bars. The encounters Jim West and Sean went through were thrilling and highly captivating.Though Jim West was likely to be one of the suspects, he ends up being the case solver by the end.Partly Obsessed, Partly Intelligent And Partly Brave, Jim held his good guy reputations all the way.Though the characters lacked a bit of detailing, the entire length of novel was kept fairly tight. It appeared no where that any section of the novel was improvised without a thought, BUT all we felt, Bob actually had the entire story in head before jotting it down, which resulted in a perfect mystery/thriller novel that just feels perfect length and well written.I wasn't sure about picking up this novel at first, since this is the fifth in series and I've not read the preceding four, until I discovered it's just a another standalone Jim West Mystery Novel. The characters, plot and storyline, all seemed to be standalone and highly intriguing and appealing that I had no problem keeping the track of it anywhere through the book.Looking forward to read the first four of Jim West Mystery/Thriller books. (Reviews expected shortly).Any further brief related to the story will prove to be a spoiler and therefore if anyone (Mystery/Thriller lover) wanting to read this book, go ahead and pick it up, We are sure the reader won't be disappointed.Pros:-+ Perfect Length and Tight plot.+ Highly Intriguing.+ Suspense lives through out.+ Wide variety of possible suspects.+ Enjoyable read for Mystery/Thriller Lovers.+ Amazing Conclusion.Cons:-- Average detailing of characters.- Cover could be designed slightly better to match up with story line (though not much of an issue)Overall, NO ONE ELSE TO KILL is amazing book which has a solid storyline and a tight plot which shall keep the readers in suspense through out and deliver a unforgettable thrill.

This was Robert Doerr's best book to date: intriguing, engaging, and fast-paced. As I see it, Doerr sets up at least two potential sequels near the end of the book, so there is surely more Jim West to come! I, for one, look forward to more!

No One Else to Kill is book 5 of the Jim West Mysteries. Since this was my first Jim West book, I expected to feel as though I was missing something. I am pleased to say that I was not, and this is definitely a stand-alone book. Jim West travels to a remote hunting lodge in New Mexico with the intent of meeting up with an old friend to do some therapeutic hiking. The friend is a no-show, but before he can head for home a murder occurs at the lodge. Not yet twenty four hours later, another murder occurs. While Jim could have been one of the suspects, the police recognize his problem solving talents and enlist his help in solving the crime. Although he wants no part of it, he agrees to be their man on the inside and keep his eyes on everyone.Jim is a likable character, not really wanting to get involved, but realizing his unique talents and opportunity to be among the suspects. We are introduced to a variety of characters and suspects at the lodge. Things get out of control and brought back to an exciting conclusion. It is an interesting story with a variety of possible suspects. No One Else to Kill won First Runner-Up in the Commercial Fiction category for the 2013 Eric Hoffer Award.
